Regent Celebrates Avurudu
The Sinhala Hindu Avururdu celebration of Regent International College, Gampaha took place on 04th April 2018 at the College premises. The famous radio announcer Mrs. Thilaka Ransinghe witnessed this event as the Chief Guest together with the school Principal Ms. C. Wickrama Arachchi.
She was quite impressed by the fact that an International College where all curricular and extra curricular activities are conducted in English medium, being able to remind the students and parents of the importance of inculcating cultural values.
Further she remarked that Regent International College is outstanding and special in fulfilling that task.
All traditional customs of the New Year were carried out both in Sinhala and Tamil and several Avurudu songs, few dance items were part of the program.
In this year also, the students announced the Avurudu program in all three languages Sinhala, Tamil and English. The students of the College from Nursery to Year 13 and the students from the branch school took part in various Avurudu games such as Fancy dress, Jana Gee, Singithi Avurudu Kumara Kumariya and many more.
Not only for students, some games were held for teachers and for parents.
Traditional sweetmeats from both Sinhala and Tamil cultures were served to all the participants in the celebrations. In this year Singithi Avurudu pola was held to fund the function by the Primary and Pre Primary section of the College.
