Regent International College at Charity
Regent International College, Gampaha held a free eye clinic for the needy and deserving people from low income families of the area, on 7th May, Saturday at the College premises.
This CSR – Corporate Social Responsibility project organized by the college was the beginning of celebrating its 15th Anniversary. At the clinic 217 people received eye care and 9 cataracts were detected. 190 free spectacles are to be given out on the generous donation of the college students and the staff. The Eye Care foundation sponser for the 9 cateract surgeries.
Dr. Gamini Amaratunga, Chairperson of The Eye Care Foundation in Sri Lanka, conducted the programme. Mr. Kanil of the Eye care Foundation supervised while Dr. U.G.J.I Udugama, Dr. U.K.D.M.S Perera were at the programme for the medical checkup of the patients. The optometrists were Mrs. Pushpalatha and Mr. R.C Joseph.The technicians Mr. A.K.K Madusanka, Mr. Pradeep Gunarathne, and Mr. M.P.S.M Gunathilake also asisted in the clinic and.
The project was organized by Mrs. Dishna Karunasekara, Head of Science Department and Mrs. Thapthi Gunasekara, Head of Pre-Primary section of Regent International College under the guidance of college Principal, Mrs. C. Wickrama Arachchi and Vice Principal, Mrs. Ruwini Perera. Members of the staff of the college also were present to extend support.
Regent International College set an example to students by involving them in this charity work during the month of Vesak celebrating the 15th Year Anniversary. The celebration continues with Pirith Chanting in Poson month, Regent Walk, Essay competition and a Magazine released by the school.
