New Year Celebration at Regent International College
The Sinhala Avurudu celebration of Regent International College, Gampaha took place on 6th April 2016 in the college premises. The chief guest for the occasion was famous artist Mrs Kumari Munasinghe. She was highly pleased with the fact that an international school tries to inculcate cultural values in students and remarked that Regent International College is unique and special.
All the traditional customs of the new year were carried out and several avurudu dances and songs were part of the program.
This year students announced Aurudu programme in all three languages; Sinhala, Tamil and English. The students of the college from Nursery to Year 13 took part in various avurudu games- class wise. Games were held for the Parents, teachers and even the support staff.
Traditional sweetmeats from both Sinhala and Tamil cultures were served to the all who participated in the celebration. This year there was a Singithi Avurudu Pola held in the Primary to collect funds to buy gifts at the Avurudu celebrations.
