Regent Collge Christmas Concert 2014
The annual Christmas Programme of Regent International College was held on the 8th of December, 2014 at the college auditorium. The event commenced at 03.45 PM. The chief guest of the event was Reverend Father Kokila Wijewickrama who is the Head of Primary at the Christ King College, Weliweriya.
The proceedings for the day was commenced by the lighting of the candles by the chief guest, the principal and vice principal of the school and the teachers in charge of Christianity. The opening carol was ‘Oh Come All Ye Faithful’ which was sung by the students of year 8. A verse from the bible was then read by Thiruni Premachandra. The opening prayer was delivered by Nikki Sudarma and the welcome speech by Methujana Madurapperuma.
The children of Nursery 1,2& 3 then took over the stage with ‘Christmas is the happiest Day’. The nativity play then commenced with the students singing carols during the play. Year 1B/C sang ‘Away in a Manger’ and year 6A sang ‘Hark the Herald’. The next item was a dance by Angels after which the students of KG sang ‘Joy to the World’ and Year7 sang ‘Silent Night’.
Next was the session of Offertory where the children offered their shoeboxes to baby Jesus. Next the students of Year 5B sang ‘Oh Come Divine Messiah’. Reverend Father Kokila Wijewickrama addressed the gathering.
Year 11s,12s and 13s then sang ‘Mistletoe’. Afterwards, an item was presented by the brass band of the college.
The final carols were sung by the teachers, they sang ‘PayaEdaRantharu’ and ‘FelizNavidad’. The event concluded with the final message of hope and a wish for the new yearbeing delivered by Ginasha Perera.
