Regent College Annual Kiddies Sports Meet 2014
The Kiddies Sports Day at Regent International College Gampaha was a sunny and well attended event. As usual, the event was attended by supportive family member and well wishers. We are delighted to have had as our Chief Guest, the Deputy Head of Ratnavali College.
Here at Regent Sports play a pivotal role. While we value and endorse academic excellence and strive to lay strong foundations of education, we believe that a holistic education is so important. Not every child will reach great academic heights and so many will choose alternative career paths; we hope that through sport we may provide one such avenue. It is also imperative that each child is able to exercise and participate in physical activity as this ensures healthy living. Sport and exercise not only ensures that our physical body is kept healthy and active but it is proven that physical exercise aids better learning, endorsing our value of the holistic development of the child.
For us at Regent International College, winning is not important and it is participation which we strongly support at this stage of the childs growth and education. Participation teaches a child to respect others, to later support their peers in their successes as they go on to win competitions, to not be excessively competitive but to strive to do what is best in ones own capacity and personal goal.
In a bid to engage every child in any capacity the games and sporting events are carefully thought through; team building exercises, skills and dexterity, speed and agility and of course passion are factors which inspire us to focus on certain games. It is inevitable that competition does seep in but its healthy and centred around the team. So the games are water pouring activities, the stepping- stone game to name a few.
We at Regent International College are proud to announce a special Kiddies Sports Day; the sunny disposition of the participants says it all….
